With a love of music since childhood, Hannah Wheeler has fully immersed herself in her musical career. Whether she is performing on the operatic stage, presenting solo or collaborative recitals, working with youth through child adaptational shows, or reigniting a singing passion in adults, Hannah values the personal expression and embodiment of the music she and others perform.
Hannah has a passion for all types of music, including classical, musical theater, and commercial, such as pop, rock, country, and jazz. With a great appreciation for old and new works, Hannah is able to teach all students to sing with a natural and healthy technique. She also incorporates theory and analysis in all lessons so that students can immerse themselves fully in the repertoire they are singing and therefore be free to sing with the highest level of expression.
Hannah Wheeler has a Bachelor's degree from Belmont University in Vocal Performance where she participated in many musical opportunities. Ms. Wheeler performed multiple roles in the opera program and as a chorister, she sang with the Belmont University Chorale as they toured Italy performing in churches singing Italian and Latin church music and African American spirituals. Her participation in this choir also allowed her to perform at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, TN with her school’s yearly production of Christmas at Belmont, televised PBS.
Hannah Wheeler finished her Master’s degree in Voice Performance from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University in May of 2018, where she studied with Allan Glassman and has worked with teachers, coaches and directors such as Thomas Studebaker, Beth Parker, Shannon McGinnis, Scott Gilmore and Andrew Eggert. She also was able to participate in multiple master classes with composers such as Jake Heggie.
Since finishing her degrees, Hannah has been commited to her performance career as well as her passion for teaching. With her experience in the professional world, she is able to give her students not only lessons on vocal techniques, but coachings on character development, audition prep for college or performance opportuinies, and how to manage the ups and downs of a performance career.
The ultimate goal of Voices by Hannah is to foster a love of music and help grow students who go on to enjoy a life of music making, either in a formal or casual context. Hannah currently runs her studio out of her home in Indianapolis, IN. Students at all levels, all ages, and all styles take lessons here.
